19 Apr Hawthorn Lodge gets a 5 Star Self Catering Grading with Visit Wales!
We are so excited to share our latest news!
A representative from Visit Wales assessed Hawthorn Lodge this week and awarded our first lodge a 5 Star grade for self-catering accommodation:
On the report, our Visit Wales assessor noted:
Hawthorn is the first built/open to guests of three identical lodges that make up Mid Wales Lodges, with Lime due to be completed in July or thereabouts and Oak, later in the Autumn. The Lodges sit just over a mile from the A470, in a lovely rural position with hills and countryside all around. Richard has custom built the lodges himself to be fully accessible to disabled people, their families and carers, but they are equally of appeal to able bodied guests and/or those with limited mobility etc. whatever their age. All three have the same floor plan and same design, decor, furniture and so on as Hawthorn – the one viewed.
The Lodges overall and all of their rooms within them are HUGE! with the first impression on entering (Hawthorn), certainly ‘wow’ in view of the space and light and airy feel. The craftsmanship of the buildings themselves, plus their excellent wrap around balconies/decking is excellent and all have grassed areas and sunken hot tubs which are again, fully accessible to disabled and less able guests.
All three Lodges will sleep 8, in 4 very spacious Bedrooms, all of which have excellent and again very spacious Bath and/or Shower Rooms, with some of the walk in shower trays being 6′ x 3′ – the largest on the market. Whilst all Bedrooms obviously have windows, some also have doors leading out to the balcony/decking too. The solid oak furniture and beds are of excellent quality. The open plan Lounge/Kitchen/Diner(s) is/are certainly more than large enough to accommodate 8+ guests and all very well equipped, either in the Kitchen or separate Utility Room with all expected 4/5* appliances.
It’s a great result, and we are delighted that all our hard work over these last few years has been officially approved:
Now it’s onwards and upwards, as we continue our work to finish the other two lodges – Lime Lodge and Oak Lodge. We have balconies, decking, fencing and surrounds still to complete, and the grounds themselves are still a work in progress. Whilst the wider rural landscape in which our lodges are situated provides a lovely backdrop, there is much to do to improve the landscaping immediately around the lodges. We have some busy months ahead!
